Sometimes being a baker means spending hours crafting the perfect celebratory dessert that will wow your dinner guests. Sometimes it’s about spending 10 minutes throwing together an easy greek yogurt chocolate mousse.

If you’re in need of a little something sweet and love easy chocolate desserts, then this may well be the perfect choice for tonight’s dinner!

Why Make this Recipe?

This is my ideal dessert for two people. And would make a really great dessert for a special day, maybe as a valentines dessert for 2 !

It’s great because it:

  • Contains chocolate (copious amounts of chocolate) which is always a plus in my books.
  • Involves ingredients you probably have in your fridge or pantry already.
  • It’s fast. This only takes 15 minutes and then some time in the fridge while you eat dinner.

What Do I Need to Make this easy chocolate dessert?

  • Chocolate: Ideally dark chocolate and the better the quality the better the results will be.
  • Maple syrup: brings a little sweetness to the dish
  • Milk
  • Greek Yogurt: You need the thickness of the greek yogurt for this mousse

Optional other ingredients:

Whipped cream and berries can be lovely on top of this mousse. You could also consider whisking in some other flavors, such as rum or a shot of espresso.

How to Make this Recipe

Step 1: Chop Chocolate

Finely chop your chocolate and place it in a heat proof bowl.

Step 2: Heat the milk

Warm the milk to a gentle simmer either on the stove top or in the microwave. Either way once it’s warm pour it over the chocolate and let it sit for a few moments.

Melting the chocolate

Step 3: Combine the rest of the ingredients

Fold the chocolate mixture into the Greek yogurt and then sweeten with the maple syrup to taste. Spoon the mixture into two bowls and set in the fridge until you’re ready to eat!

Bonus – Chocolate dipped tuilles to accompany your Greek Yogurt chocolate mousse

I happened to have some leftover tuille batter in the fridge, so I made a couple of little tuille cookies; dipped them in white chocolate and covered them with sprinkles. You could totally skip this, but it’s a fun little add on if you’re in the mood!

Greek Yogurt Chocolate Mousse for 2

A great last minute dessert when you're craving some chocolate. This is scaled for two people, but it's easy to adjust the quantities as needed!
Prep Time 15 minutes
Refrigeration Time 1 hour
Total Time 1 hour 15 minutes
Course Dessert
Servings 2 people

Ingredients

  • 1-3 tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 80 g Dark Chocolate
  • 70 g Milk
  • 120 g Greek Yogurt (whole or 2%)

Instructions

  • Finely chop your chocolate and then put it in a heat proof bowl
  • Put your milk into another heatproof bowl and microwave it in 30 second bursts until simmering hot. Pour it straight over the chocolate once it's warm and then let it sit for 2 minutes.
  • Meanwhile measure your yogurt into another bowl and add in the maple syrup, I like to start with 1 tbsp and then I add more later if it needs it. Give the yogurt and syrup a good whisk to make sure they're combined and smooth.
  • Back to the chocolate! Give it a whisk to smooth it out, if there are still some lumps then microwave the mixture for 15 seconds and then whisk it again. Once it's smooth pour it into the yogurt mixture and stir it all together with a spatula.
  • Taste the mixture. At this point you can add more maple syrup if you want a sweeter mousse or leave it as is. Once you're happy with the sweetness spoon it into two coffee cups or small bowls and place in the fridge for an hour. Serve with a spoonful of yogurt sweetened with syrup on top (As I did) or as is !
